Dallas is now where I call home. It’s still surreal to me that I reside in Dallas, Texas. Moving right as the holiday season began really didn’t allow me the time to settle in after I moved. I drove here in my U-Haul, unpacked everything… well almost everything… went to sleep, woke up, unpacked the rest of everything, went to sleep, woke up, and went to work at my new job.

I’m grateful to have jumped right into work because I actually do better when I’m working a lot. When I have a lot of off-time I get into shenanigans that I absolutely shouldn’t be getting into and/or dwell on how lazy I’m being and develop crippling anxiety. So work always seems like a better option. Oh, or irrational travel. Can’t forget that.

Slowly, but surely I’m getting my apartment together so it feels a little bit like home. I’ve got to be honest, this is one of the largest apartments I’ve ever lived in and so, so nice. I have all of my furniture from home and there’s still room for more!  I’ve developed a really sick routine of coming home and immediately turning on Netflix to The Office. I’ve been a little reclusive since the move and I’m trying to get out of the habit of it, but it’s so hard… that’s what she said.

“Michael’s like a movie on a plane… I mean, it’s not great, but it’s something to watch… and when its over, it’s like.. how much time is left on this flight?” – Toby Flenderson

As somber as it’s made me feel at times, it’s also unbelievably refreshing to have so much downtime. The blogging environment here is 100% not the same as it is in Austin. It seemed like every night in Austin there was something to do whether it was a store opening, new restaurant PR tasting, Blogger meet-up, or just being deviant with friends, there was always something I was enticed to do every single night.

Here in Dallas I go to work, I come home, watch The Office and do my best at trying to recreate Lebanese dishes for dinner. Sometimes I even take a bath. Sound exciting? I agree. I need to get out more.

I’m trying to compile a list of actually impressive places to eat here. I’m being a huge bitch about the food here because I’ve been spoiled in Austin for so many years. I think once I find a handful of restaurants that aren’t just filled with a bunch of “cool” people and mediocre food I’ll start feeling better about the whole thing.

Some sort of project with this is now in the works in my mind. This is good.

The past 6 months of my moves within Austin and now into Dallas have for some reason inspired me to incorporate a theme of black, pink and white into my home. This is the antithesis of what I would have done in the past, and actually now that I think about it the only reason I was inspired by this was via an oil painting I bought on the side of the Seine in Paris. I’ll have to share a picture of this on my instagram soon. That said, most of my furniture is thrifted and refinished by me (brushes shoulder off), but I actually scooped up a lot of little things on Amazon during my last move. Literally that company has everything.

When I’m feeling semi-indulgent I love to stock up on goodies at World Market. Other than that, it’s all thrift all the time 🙂

Anyway, I don’t even know how to wrap this up as if it were a precedented series of thoughts… but thank you for reading!!
